INTRODUCTION AND WELCOME (10:00 - 10:15 a.m.)

I. PROMOTING WOMEN THROUGH THE #SeeHer INITIATIVE (10:15 - 11:00 a.m.)
At a recent White House event, the advertising industry announced a plan to help eliminate bias against women in programming and advertising.  Through #SeeHer, the ANA’s Alliance for Family Entertainment (AFE) will work with industry to accurately portray women and girls and will provide toolkits to aid in the process.  The campaign will also monitor and highlight top-scoring ads and programming.  This presentation by the AFE will discuss the #SeeHer initiative and how you can get involved.

II. AN AGENCY CHECKUP FROM THE NECKUP (11:00 – 11:45 a.m.)
ANA sent shockwaves through the advertising industry with the release of the K2 transparency report in June.  ANA’s General Counsel, Doug Wood, will discuss the report’s findings and an update on the aftermath.  He will also share new information on what advertisers need to do to protect themselves in light of the report.

III. WHAT’S NEW IN WASHINGTON? (11:50 a.m. – 12:05 p.m.)
Congress is now on one of its longest recesses ever, and the Presidential race has finally been whittled down to Clinton vs. Trump.  But even as we head into the August doldrums, there is still much activity going on in Washington, especially at the Federal Communications Commission.  Dan Jaffe will provide an update on two important and potentially damaging rulemakings at the FCC and how ANA is responding.  He will also cover some of the advertising implications of the elections.

IV.  THE NEW SAG-AFTRA CONTRACT: THE INSIDER VIEW (12:05 – 12:20 p.m.)
Michael Strauss, a member of the team that negotiated with SAG-AFTRA on behalf of the Joint Policy Committee on Broadcast Talent Union Relations, will provide an insider’s view of the new three-year Commercials Contract, covering the key details you need to know.

V. PUTTING DISCLOSURES TO THE TEST (1:05 - 1:50 p.m.)
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will be holding a workshop in September on the testing and evaluation of various disclosures that companies make to consumers about advertising claims, privacy practices, and other information. John Feldman, Partner at Reed Smith LLP, will discuss what this means for advertisers when making claims in ads and where the FTC may be headed on the issue.
