For February’s meeting, Reed Smith LLP’s presentation will include a discussion of recent: (i) FTC cases; (ii) NAD/CARU cases; (iii) state and federal class action cases; (iv) privacy cases and developments; and (v) state attorneys general enforcement actions.  Presenting from Reed Smith LLP will be Associates’ Erika Auger, Michael Isselin, Bretta Oluyede, Casey Perrino, Jillian Petrera, and Toam Rubinstein.

Erika Auger, Associate, focuses her practice on advertising and marketing, including counseling on digital and social media, right of publicity matters, sweepstakes and promotions, and she advises on the protection, maintenance, and licensing of copyrights and trademarks. Her practice also includes drafting and reviewing various agreements including advertising agency/client agreements, media planning/buying agreements, and sponsorship agreements.

Michael Isselin, Associate, in the Entertainment and Media Industry Group. His practice focuses on the various aspects of advertising and marketing, including talent and influencer marketing, digital and social media, advertising compliance, consumer protection and sweepstakes and promotions. Michael advises clients on talent and influencer endorsement and advertising, matters, SAG-AFTRA issues, FTC compliance, branded entertainment deals and new media developments. He drafts, reviews, and negotiates a range of agreements, including celebrity endorsement and talent agreements, branded entertainment deals, media planning/buying agreements, and content licenses.

Bretta Oluyede, Associate in the firm’s Entertainment & Media Industry Group. Her practice focuses on data security, privacy, emerging technologies, media and advertising issues. Bretta advises clients across industries in all aspects of privacy compliance, including contract negotiation and drafting, and represents them in tech and data-related class actions. Bretta spent seven months on secondment with Amazon’s Advertising team based in New York between October 2018 and May 2019. Prior to joining Reed Smith, Bretta served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Petrese B. Tucker, the Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, as well as a Legal Intern for both ABC News and the National Football League.

Casey Perrino, Associate, her practice focuses on data privacy and security counseling, including cross-border data compliance, evaluation and development of privacy programs, and contractual review. She is knowledgeable in international (e.g., GDPR, EU-US Privacy Shield), federal, and state privacy laws (e.g., CCPA), as well as anti-spam legislation around the world (e.g., CAN-SPAM, CASL). She continues to review the evolving data privacy landscape to determine how new or amended laws may affect clients’ business practices and privacy programs.

Jillian Petrera, Associate, represents brands and media and technology companies, and regularly advises on matters related to advertising, marketing, digital, media and technology. Her practice includes structuring, drafting and negotiating a wide range of agreements, including master services agreements, media buying/planning agreements, ad platform agreements, talent and endorsement agreements, influencer agreements, sponsorship agreements, and contests and sweepstakes rules. It also includes reviewing advertising campaigns for compliance with federal, state and local laws and industry codes of practice; counseling on digital media products and new and emerging technologies; and creating seminars, webinars, checklists, templates and other valuable resources for clients across a wide range of industries. Jillian works closely with clients to achieve business objectives while effectively managing legal risks, by offering practical, responsive and solution-oriented advice.

Toam Rubinstein, Associate, is an associate in the Entertainment & Media Group.  She focuses her practice on advertising, including product innovation, emerging and traditional media distribution, talent and influencer marketing as well as live event production, including event sponsorship, talent buying and live streaming. Toam's transactional practice also includes drafting and negotiating international trademark licenses, choreography commission agreements and mobile app development and service agreements.
