WELCOME (2:00 pm)

I.    THE STATUS OF THE EU-U.S. PRIVACY SHIELD (2:00 - 2:30 PM)
In light of last year’s Schrems II decision that found the protections provided by the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield inadequate, what is the future for transatlantic data transfers and international commerce based on sharing data across the pond? Alex Greenstein of the Department of Commerce will provide an update on where things stand.

Speaker: Alex Greenstein, Director, Privacy Shield, United States Department of Commerce

II.    MID YEAR GOVERNMENT RELATIONS REPORT (2:30 - 3:00)
It’s been a busy year so far for ANA’s Government Relations team. We’ve seen a number of digital ad tax proposals in the states – including one that is now law in Maryland – and there are rumblings of a federal digital ad tax proposal as well. On the privacy front, the list of state privacy laws is growing while Congress is running out of time to finish a federal standard. Chris Oswald will discuss what we’ve seen so far in these areas (and others) and will preview what to expect for the rest of 2021.

Speaker: Chris Oswald,
SVP, Government Relations, ANA

III.    END OF TERM SUPREME COURT RECAP (3:00 - 3:30 PM)
There were a number of notable decisions released by the U.S. Supreme Court in its recently concluded term that will have an impact on the advertising industry going forward – specifically relating to FCRA, the FTC’s 13(b) powers, and the ability of NCAA players to be compensated. Bob Corn-Revere will recap these cases – and more.

Speaker: Bob Corn-Revere,
Partner, Davis Wright Tremaine LLP

IV.    OPEN DISCUSSION (3:30 - 4:00 PM)
