II.  AI and the Nonprofit Organizations (2:05 – 2:35 pm, ET)

  • Smart tech, AI and similar digital technologies, has the power to do rote tasks for and instead of staff. This includes tasks like filling out expense reports and identifying prospective donors. However, smart tech is also beginning to do very human jobs like screening applicants for jobs and social services, while paying forward historic biases. Author Allison Fine will provide an overview of what the technology is and does, and how organizations can begin to use it in smart, ethical ways to help turn the page from frantic busyness to relationship building and problem solving.

  • Presenter: Allison Fine | Co-author of  The Smart Nonprofit: Staying Human-Centered in an Age of Automation
