IWG Prohibition Remains in 2015 Spending Bill

The 2015 omnibus spending bill (commonly known as the "cromnibus") which funds the majority of the government through the end of the fiscal year, retains the requirement that the Federal Trade Commission must complete a cost/benefit analysis before completing the Interagency Working Group for Food Marketed to Children report.  This report included very strict guidelines that would have virtually banned 88 of the top 100 consumed foods in the United States from being marketed to anyone under 18 years of age.

The House is likely to vote on the bill tomorrow (12.11.14), with the Senate wrapping up its work on the bill over the weekend.

ANA played a major role in getting this prohibition put into place beginning in 2011, and we continue to work to ensure that the ban remains in place.
