ANA Introduces New Digital Media Category for Annual Multicultural Excellence Awards

Call for Entries Issued for Client-Side Marketers and Agencies

NEW YORK (June 16, 2008) – Recognizing the transformation taking place in the marketing landscape, the ANA (Association of National Advertisers) has added a new category to its annual Multicultural Excellence Awards to highlight work in digital media. Entries are now being accepted, and winners will be announced at the ANA’s 10th Annual Multicultural Marketing Conference, November 16-18 in Boca Raton, FL.

“With digital becoming such a significant part of today’s marketing mix, we felt it was important to incorporate this new category into our awards,” explained Gilbert Dávila, vice president, multicultural marketing for The Walt Disney Company and chairperson of the ANA’s Multicultural Marketing Committee. “Adding the digital media category will enable the ANA to raise awareness of the extraordinary work being done in African American, Asian and Hispanic advertising.” The new Digital Media category applies to all ethnic segments. Entries may cover any combination of creative materials from online advertising campaigns, display ads, Web sites and micro sites, as well as other digital media, such as wireless and online video.

This year, the ANA will review submissions in six categories, with honorable mentions/finalists and a grand prize winner for each. Categories include:

  • African American
  • Asian
  • Hispanic
  • General Market
  • Digital Media
  • Significant Results

Companies and agencies are encouraged to submit multiple entries within a category or across multiple categories. For additional rules, fees and submission guidelines, interested parties can go to www.ana.net/awards. The deadline for submissions is Friday, August 29, 2008.

A portion of the proceeds collected from the awards submission fees are used to fund scholarships for high-potential multicultural students planning to pursue careers in advertising and marketing.
