Senior Accountant, Finance Department

The Senior Accountant is responsible for working with the SVP of Finance and the Director of Finance to ensure that the department is the best in class, value-added finance group that helps the organization to grow and fulfill its mission. This includes meeting all internal and external reporting deadlines, maintaining compliance with all regulations, providing accurate and timely reporting, and staying on top of all the needs of the department and organization. A successful candidate will have an intense commitment to being extremely organized, oriented toward supporting top management, and able to analyze data. Additionally, this candidate is expected to provide thoughtful conclusions and suggestions and be adaptable in the face of change and growth.

  • Perform account analysis and discuss the variances
  • Prepare various schedules to support GL accounts records
  • Record dues, sponsorship and events revenue
  • Prepare deferred revenue analysis schedule • Record expenses for various accounts
  • Prepare bank reconciliation for multiple bank accounts
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly reporting
  • Assist Director of Finance with various special reports
  • Assists in the development and implementation of systems and procedures, with an eye toward continuing to develop and improve systems
  • Participate in the development of the annual budget
  • Work with various departments providing actual expense analysis and assist with monthly year-end forecast Assist with tax return preparation as needed
  • Assist and support audit activities
  • Conform to accounting practices pursuant to annual audit requirements and stay current with changes to accounting practices per GAAP standards Other
  • Assist with strategic initiatives as assigned• Fulfill additional responsibilities as requested or assigned

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or relevant area of study
  • Minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience working in an Accounting/Finance department.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP required
  • Nonprofit experience a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel
  • Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to other employees in the organization
  • Knowledge of CYMA accounting system a plus WORK
