Associate Manager-Marketing Innovation

Job Description Position Summary

Reporting to the Marketing Innovation Manager, this Associate Marketing Innovation Manager will work with multi-disciplinary partners, including Innovation, Consumer Insights, Winemaking, and Brand Marketing, to develop innovation and pipeline strategies, identify and assess new product and packaging innovation opportunities, and lead a cross-functional team to bring ideas to market.


  • Develop and use ongoing analysis of category, competitive, and consumer trends to uncover areas of opportunity and unmet consumer needs to fuel innovative ideas across consumers, channels and markets.
  • Use business intelligence, syndicated data and insights to estimate market size and potential.
  • Participate in market visits and business unit planning meetings for strong commercial, customer, and market understanding.


  • Work closely with the Marketing Innovation Manager to develop smart, inspiring, consumer-focused, and insight-driven briefs to engage agency partners.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions for white space identification and concept/proposition development.
  • Work closely with consumer insights to use consumer segmentation and need states analysis to develop product and brand hypothesis for development and testing.


  • Develop project plan, in collaboration with consumer insights and project management team, to deliver project from idea to launch, including qualitative and quantitative testing approach.
  • Work closely with agency partners through idea and concept development, through testing and optimization, and final launch execution.
  • Utilize research, and competitive, category, consumer, shopper, and retailer insights to further validate and optimize concepts to meet strategic objectives.
  • Work closely with winemaking, procurement and project managers to brief for new liquids/packaging, establish benchmarks and guardrails, and manage liquid/package development to meet project and timeline requirements.
  • Shepherd project through Constellation Brands Stage Gate Process, managing milestone delivery, P&L hurdles, and volume forecasts.
  • Manage project budgets; ensure allocation of budgets across initiatives are spent in efficient and effective ways; responsible for managing monthly budget reporting and forecasting.
  • Assist in development of best-in-class innovation practices and processes.


  • Work closely with brand marketing and sales for launch and marketing planning, and to measure in-market performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners for continued improvement across product and process.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Brand Management/Marketing Management position in consumer product company required.
  • Proven desire and ability to think creatively coupled with strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills; very articulate, strong public speaking and writing skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, solid financial acumen and an attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork skills; ability to take ownership of projects and work with interdepartmental functions to achieve project completion in a smooth and timely manner.
  • Strong PC skills (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Successful candidate will be a very motivated self-starter and be able to work without daily guidance.
  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.


Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA preferred.
  • CPG or Alcohol Beverage industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with 3-tier distribution system a plus.
  • Experience in packaging and creative development.
  • Syndicated database experience (IRI or Nielsen) a plus.


Physical Requirements/Work Environment
