Global Category Manager - Marketing Ecommerce

Primary Function:
The Category Manager is responsible for:
  • leading strategic and complex procurement sourcing activities related to spend in digital marketing / digital media, marketing technology (MarTech), print and print media, Agency, Creative, Media and Production categories.
  • defining, developing and implementing sourcing strategies for managed categories, consistent with overall objectives.
  • developing sourcing strategy to deliver optimal level of service and results through planning, business need, industry assessment, strategy definition, execution, supplier selection, transactional planning and contracting.
     
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for leading strategic and complex procurement sourcing activities related to spend in specific categories
  • Define, develop and implement sourcing global strategies for managed categories, consistent with overall objectives
  • Lead the global sourcing process including eSourcing RFI/RFP/RFX, negotiations, and contract execution with selected suppliers
  • Develop and lead global sourcing strategy to deliver optimal level of service and results through planning, business need, industry assessment, strategy definition, execution, supplier selection, transactional planning and contracting.
  • Align with senior leaders and business partners to develop short-term and long-term category objectives and pipeline opportunities, while offering solutions and optimal solutions to achieve business goals
  • Monitor the supplier market and  identify opportunities, resulting from new product offerings and/or industry trends
  • Drive and influence innovation and continuous improvement
  • Leverage market intelligence to validate and benchmark costs and competitive pricing.
  • Prioritize and conduct spend and savings analysis
  • Manage multiple projects and initiatives within assigned categories with the ability to meet defined timelines and provide proactive status communication to business partners
  • Manage supplier relationships and execute supplier performance management techniques in accordance with standards and guidelines and in collaboration with business partners
  • Prepare and conduct Quarterly Business Reviews
  • Monitor supplier performance in accordance with contract obligations, SLA's, KPI's, and metrics to maximize compliance and mitigate issues
  • Accountable for the individual performance and results or that of a team
  • Accurately forecast Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for proposed solutions
  • Manage performance by adhering to cost reduction and savings goals and developing financial models for category spend
  • Ensure all contract obligations and risks are properly documented and mitigated
  • Manages staff in the development and implementation of department processes, procedures and programs. Ensures adherence to Company processes and procedures
     
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • MA/MS/MBA or equivalent preferred
  • Role is balanced between managerial capabilities and technical expertise.
  • 5-7 years Marketing and/or Marketing Category Management experience
  • Has in-depth knowledge of Strategic Sourcing and interacts with business partners to attain results or solve problems
  • Must have experience in global category management and strategic sourcing including advanced contract T&C's, negotiation skills and best in class processes.
  • Previous management experience leading small to large teams preferred
  • Strong level project management and analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively work across a matrix global organization
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated highly developed experience in negotiation and best in class practices
  • Strong ability to assess and manage contractual, operational, financial and business risk
  • Professional qualification/certification from related professional organizations (CPM, CPSM, APICS) would be advantageous.
