Job Purpose

The successful Social Media Manager II is passionate about social media strategy within retail, and eager to create and implement sound social media strategy for Tractor Supply Company. The Social Media Manger II has a deep understanding of current and emerging social channels that impact marketing and will work with agencies to develop and execute social media strategy. The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of social marketing experience including the development of social media strategy, implementation of paid and organic social media campaigns and an expert understanding of maximizing social media to meet quantifiable business goals.


This position is responsible for leading social media activities to both retain and attract customers while enhancing and preserving the strength of TSC’s reputation. The role develops and oversees the TSC social media strategy and execution to ensure alignment with stated objectives and to prioritize Tractor Supply's integrated social media engagement across the business. The ideal candidate will create a strategy grounded in social listening, engagement, advertising, and care.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Strategy: Create social engagement strategies and tactical plans based on business and marketing partner needs. Own the development and execution of strategic social media initiatives, including clearly defined KPIs, integrated communication calendar, and integrating social media into the overall business strategy Social Media Management: Manage Tractor Supply's presence across numerous social channels: Develop and oversee social content, engagement and moderation across social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.) Agency management: Direct and manage relationships with social media agencies in order to ensure strategic initiatives are reached Social Listening: Responsible for uncovering social conversations about TSC and proactively responding appropriately and maintaining a high engagement rate, partnering with Public Relations teams as necessary Social Engagement: Responsible for developing engaging social strategies that drive interaction Social Advertising: Responsible for TSC’s social advertising program across all social channels to support business initiatives, reach new customers, and demonstrate the lifestyle TSC enables Social Care: Responsible for listening to customer outreach on social media and responding or partnering with the Customer Support Center to take care of the customer Reporting and Analytics: Monitor and analyze social media trends and their impact on the overall company business - Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports with KPI performance, insights, and actionable intelligence to leadership and internal teams Foster customer brand advocates: Strategize and direct a program for identifying, growing and engaging loyal online customer brand and category advocates/ambassadors.

Reputation Management:

Ensure company brand and reputation are enhanced by social media activities; integrating with PR to actively manage through communications issues using social media.

Competitive Monitoring:

Monitor the competition and be aware of market changes and developments Vendor Partnerships: Work with buyers and vendors to develop and execute contests, giveaways and campaigns


Work with internal and external partners to select and acquire appropriate, existing multimedia content, including still images, animations, music and video, edit copy received from additional content contributors


Stay up-to-date on platforms, trends, and opportunities in the ever-evolving social landscape


Train and mentor team members so they progress in their careers and deliver best-in-class performance Social Vendor Contracts: Identify social commerce, engagement and monitoring vendors whose platforms/technologies can aid in social growth and listening


Education and Experience

Experience: Minimum 7-10 years Social Media Management experience developing and executing social marketing campaigns, including quantitative measurement of programs, strong relationships with social media and personal and active engagement in social media. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.



Bachelors' Degree in Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations, English or Journalism preferred



Knowledge of the capabilities and best practices of key social media platforms and how to tailor content and format for optimal results Knowledge of upcoming trends in the industry and channel and how to develop programs that are adaptable as the landscape evolves Experience distributing content in integrated programs across all digital channels Strong understanding of how audiences behave on social channels and how to influence them and be relevant Strong analytical skills: ability to gather, analyze, summarize, and present data Experience using popular analytic and publishing tools such as: Meltwater, Kenshoo, Sprinklr, and others.

Outstanding communications skills including oral, written, and presentation.
