Microsoft announced new cross-platform advertising on its recently launched MSN Apps for iOS, Android and Amazon devices. Advertising became available Wednesday for purchase across 24 markets with standard sizes for phones and tablets.

The MSN Apps include News, Weather, Sports, Money, Health & Fitness and Food & Drink. Each offers immersive interfaces and allows consumers to customize their settings and experiences across devices, enabling advertisers to tap into their desired audience across multiple screens and platforms.

Agencies and brands can purchase ads on MSN Apps through the Microsoft Advertising sales teams and the Microsoft Advertising Exchange, which can also provide reports monitoring click-through rates and ad-engagement metrics.

Campaigns can tie into search engine marketing on Bing. "Marketers can use search re-messaging or Unified Event Tracking, which is one tag across Search and Display," said a Microsoft spokesperson. "The Unified Event Tracking feature will be coming soon."

All apps are vertical-based, so there are specific audiences that a brand can reach per app. For example, for a consumer product goods brand, the Microsoft team may recommend the News, Food & Drink, Health & Fitness apps.

The ads fit in standard sizes, 320 x 50 for phones, and 300 x 250 for tablets simplifying the process of purchasing cross-platform inventory, explains Greg Nelson, GM of display advertising for Microsoft's Online Services Division, in a blog post.

The ads are being offered in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States.
