As environmental marketing becomes more prevalent and aggressive, regulators are increasingly seeing red over “green” claims.  The presenters will discuss key issues that marketers should consider when developing “green” messaging and highlight recent FTC consent orders and NAD challenges brought against environmental marketers.  Some of the issues to be addressed include:

  • The FTC’s guidelines concerning the marketing and advertising of “green” products
  • How to properly construct and substantiate environmental marketing claims
  • The repercussions of making unsubstantiated or overly broad environmental claims

Aaron Taylor is an associate in the Advertising, Marketing & Promotions Practice Group of Davis & Gilbert.

Specifically, his practice involves counseling media companies, advertising agencies, and advertisers on false advertising, claim substantiation, copyright and trademark issues.
