AD-VERSE PROPOSALS: NAVIGATING TODAY’S TAX THREATS TO ADVERTISING (9:00 - 9:45 am)
Advertising is increasingly in the policy crosshairs, with a “triple threat” emerging: new state taxes on advertising, challenges to the federal ad deduction, and policy debates to eliminate deductions for direct-to-consumer pharmaceutical ads. This session unpacks what’s driving these proposals, where they’re gaining traction, and the potential consequences for marketers, consumers, and the broader economy. Experts will also explore how tax policy is colliding with debates over public health and corporate speech. Attendees will leave with clear, actionable insights to engage policymakers and push back against discriminatory tax treatment.

A FEDERAL PRIVACY BILL – IS NOW THE TIME? (10:00 - 10:45 am)
The House Privacy Working Group’s privacy legislation, the SECURE Act, was officially introduced in mid-April. Introduced alongside it was an update to the GLBA, the GUARD Act.  We heard about the process and likelihood of passage earlier today from Rep. Joyce, but what would these bills mean for the advertising and marketing industry? This session will go over what is in the bills, how they might impact our industry, and how they compare to previous efforts like the ADPPA and APRA.
