Why It Matters

Data has become one of the most important enterprise assets — but also one of the most complex to govern, activate, and scale. Marketing leaders today must navigate:

  • Pressure to prove ROI through measurement and analytics
  • Fragmented data ecosystems and inconsistent standards
  • Standards or transparency, ethics, quality and accountability
  • Growing demand for skills, talent and operating models
  • Accelerating AI adoption and governance requirements

The Council helps the industry meet these challenges through collaboration, leadership, advocacy and action.

Areas of Focus

  • Strategic Guidance
  • Industry Thought Leadership
  • Best Practices and Standards
  • Executive Peer Exchange
  • Industry Influence

Strategic Direction

Modern data, analytics and marketing leadership requires more than isolated tools or pilots. It demands coordinated progress across data quality, AI enablement, governance, measurement, and skills. The ANA Data Leadership Council aligns senior leaders around a shared, practical view of what data-driven marketing maturity looks like today — and what it takes to advance. Council members use the Data practice’s priorities framework to assess readiness, identify gaps, and prioritize transformation across five critical dimensions:

  • Trust, Governance and Responsible Data & AI → Trust and Governance
  • First-Party / All-Party Data Strategy → Data for AI
  • Marketing Measurement & MMM Evolution → Marketing Mix Modeling 4.0
  • Success with B2B marketing → Data for B2B Marketing
  • Skills, Talent, and Operating Models → Data, AI, and Data Science Skills

Together, these efforts help members move from experimentation to enterprise-scale impact.
