Analyst: Uncertainty in the Economy Expected to Hamper Advertising Growth

Tariffs, inflation, and other economic factors may have companies and consumers bracing for impact

Advertising growth is now expected to slow down due to rising uncertainty about the economy and tariffs, according to one of the ad industry's top analysts. Brian Wieser, CEO and principal of Madison and Wall, wrote earlier this week that he expects ad revenue to grow 3.6 percent in 2025 — excluding political advertising — down from 4.5 percent that he predicted in December 2024.
