WELCOME, INTRODUCTION, AND ANNOUNCEMENTS (2:00 – 2:05 pm)

I.  WASHINGTON & THE STATES IN THE TIME OF COVID-19 (2:05 – 2:45 pm)
Both the federal and state governments have been consumed with the response to coronavirus, and yet many of the issues facing the ad community only have intensified. The virus has raised unique privacy issues and the California Consumer Privacy Act enforcement date comes ever closer, so will this spur Congress to finally act on comprehensive privacy legislation? We’re continuing to respond to the developing CCPA regulations, as well as confronting new ad tax issues in both Maryland and New York state and restrictions on advertising in Michigan. We also are actively responding to challenges to the use of third party cookies. ANA’s Dan Jaffe and Chris Oswald will provide an update on these issues and more.

Speaker:
Dan Jaffe, Group EVP, Government Relations, ANA
Chris Oswald, Senior VP, Government Relations, ANA

II.  THE ANA/REED SMITH RESPONSE TO COVID-19 (2:45 – 3:15 pm)
ANA and Reed Smith have developed a unique Legal Guide: The Impact of COVID-19 on Brand Advertising and Marketing to help companies deal with the unprecedented issues around coronavirus. Keri Bruce will discuss the guide and take your questions.

Speaker:
Keri Bruce, Partner, Reed Smith LLP

III. CURRENT ANA INITIATIVES (3:15 – 3:45 pm)
Despite the coronavirus and resulting lockdowns, ANA continues to develop initiatives to assist our members and further improve the climate for advertising and marketing. ANA's Bill Duggan will briefly discuss three initiatives: (1) media transformation, including a recommendation to push back the television upfront; (2) data sources for media buying; and (3) influencers.

Speaker:
Bill Duggan, Group EVP, ANA

BREAK (3:45 – 4:00 pm)

IV.  FTC’S ENDORSEMENT GUIDES UPDATE (4:00 – 4:30 pm)
The FTC has announced a review of its guidelines for the use of endorsements and testimonials in advertising, which have taken on an even more important role in the age of influencer marketing on social media. ANA is preparing comments and has set up a working group to provide input. We will analyze the specific questions the FTC is asking and how ANA plans to respond.

Speaker:
John Feldman, Partner, Reed Smith LLP

V.  ROUND ROBIN DISCUSSION (4:30 – 5:00 pm)
We’d like to hear from our members – how is coronavirus affecting you and your company?  How will the CCPA impact your operations? What other issues have arisen for you since our last meeting? ANA is here to help.  Come prepared with your questions and we can direct you to the resources we have developed to assist our members.
