NO MO’ SILOS! THE IMPORTANCE OF PLANNING HOLISTICALLY

Integration has become more than just a buzzword and it’s in practice across campaign message and audience planning for many organizations across the industry. Yet, very often, the budgeting process remains siloed, and programs/channels are given specific cost and revenue goals that align with prior years without a real review or analysis of what should that program or channel’s budget look like based on how the file dynamics may be changing. In this session, we will drill down into approaching budget development in an integrated and holistic way to meet your program where it currently is, and to take it to where you want it to go in the future.

UTILIZING PLATFORMS TO ENGAGE MILLENNIALS IN YOUR MISSION

Now is the time to rethink how we fundraise. Technology has revolutionized the way we live our lives, and donor behavior has changed. This enormous growth of a digital-first generation means we need to develop ongoing, integrated digital campaigns with our nonprofit’s traditional methods. We will use Shriners Hospitals for Children’s digital celebrity video series as an example of one organization that achieved tremendous success in donor engagement and revenue, specifically with a younger audience, by leveraging new channels like IGTV and YouTube Giving Fundraisers to generate excitement and interest. With creativity on our side, we will show you how to utilize social media to create an integrated digital marketing strategy to increase brand awareness and acquire new and younger donors.

UP, UP AND AWAY!

Whether you're in the process of transformational change or just know that there is an opportunity that cannot wait until the next budgeting season, this session will walk you through how you can best set yourself and organization up for additional investment. More specifically, thinking through the steps it will take to sell “scale” to your senior leadership and ultimately the Board.

Our session will take you through a few scenarios of what tools we used to help identify the areas where investment can be scaled, how we did it, and what the results were so that the vision, pathway & next steps left them saying, “yes, may I have another.”

We’ll navigate through all the roadblocks and how to avoid them but more importantly how you can map out a clear North Star that will allow you move your discussions from Fiscal Year budgeting, to something that looks further into the future.

RAISE VOICES OR RAISE FUNDS? INTEGRATING ADVOCACY INTO YOUR DIRECT RESPONSE

There's advocacy and there's fundraising. Often, they're seen as different and unrelated forms of constituent messaging. One builds your movement, the other builds your revenue. Given the golden rule of one single call to action (CTA) and the cost of new donor acquisition mail campaigns, that CTA must certainly be a call to donate, right? Not necessarily! In this session we'll discuss how to use advocacy to power up your fundraising. We'll share the case of a direct mail acquisition campaign for Meals on Wheels America that paired the two, and drove results up 68%!

Fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace is not as simple as filling a quota or checking off boxes. It continues to be an elusive undertaking for many organizations. BUILDING UP RECURRING REVENUE YOU CAN COUNT ON

Coming out of the chaos of the coronavirus pandemic, predictable monthly revenue from recurring donors is more critical than ever. This sort of high-value, set-it-and-forget-it revenue stream allows organizations to engage in the long-term planning required to stay ahead of the pack and weather the storm when external forces affect other fundraising methods, like face-to-face, in unexpected ways.

Alongside the USO, MissionWired will help showcase the testing, tactics, and tools that have powered cross-channel digital strategies and secured program-changing recurring revenue without losing one-time gifts. From robust testing on initial conversions – leading to some unexpected results – to rich, ongoing segmentation strategies that pinpoint, then upgrade, likely targets, you will leave with a deep understanding of both best practices and innovative experiments to grow your sustaining revenue and fortify your bottom line regardless of what 2021 throws your way.

PAVE THE WAY FOR A COOKIE-LESS WORLD

The cookiepocolypse is coming. It's just a matter of when. After years of relying on third-party cookies for insights on consumer behaviors, the marketing and advertising industries are being forced to pivot due to new concerns over privacy. Donors and consumers have been “creeped out” by the clairvoyant nature of digital ads following them around the internet. Yet, in contradiction, those same consumers are expecting increasingly personal brand journeys.
  • How concerned should Nonprofit fundraisers be about ongoing and impending Digital Advertising changes?
  • How much of our ‘business as usual’ activities will be able to continue in this modified digital advertising environment?
  • What are three things nonprofits can do right now to ensure their digital programs withstand IOS modifications and cookie deprecation?

Join this session to decode and gain a better understanding of what the cookiepocolypse could mean for your organizations fundraising initiatives. From digital novices to natives, this session’s attendees will walk away with insights they can use from leading industry data, agency, tech, and nonprofit experts.

KEYNOTE PRESENTATION: REVITALIZING A LEGACY BRAND IN AN INCREASINGLY COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

Since joining Easterseals in 2018 as the organization began to prepare for its 100th Anniversary, President and CEO Angela F. Williams has leveraged her more than 30 years of leadership in the corporate and nonprofit sectors to re-energize the organization’s brand through marketing and advocacy strategies designed to broaden equity, inclusion, and access for the one in four Americans living with disability today.  Through earned media, thought leadership, and strategic partnerships, Williams is putting the spotlight on issues that impact the lives of the people, families, and communities served by Easterseals - and generating support from corporations, foundations, philanthropists, and individual donors - as she leads Easterseals into its second century of service.

EXAMPLES OF EXCEPTIONAL DONOR EXPERIENCES IN DIRECT RESPONSE

Exceptional donor experiences are the gold standard for our work, and something we strive to provide each and every day. For too long experience has been defined as something you do in-person, and usually at an event. And then came COVID. This last year allowed us to expand our definition of experience and rethink the way we use direct mail, digital channels and good ‘ol fashioned phone to engage our donors – and we’re better because of it. Together we’ll look at some of our favorites from 2020.

HOW DEFENDERS OF WILDLIFE INCORPORATES CTV INTO A ROBUST OMNICHANNEL FUNDRAISING STRATEGY

During the 2020 holiday season, Defenders of Wildlife tasked Data Axle’s nonprofit team with creating a unique CTV campaign to raise brand awareness, engage prospective donors, and boost fundraising. Together, Data Axle and Defenders of Wildlife worked to create a custom audience for the campaign using Data Axle’s donor database, Apogee, and custom modeling to create an audience of potential donors who were likely to give online. To target them, we created a CTV ad to drive brand awareness and a display retargeting ad with similar creative and messaging which was served to the same audience. Both campaigns drove the audience to Defenders’ website and encouraged them to donate.
