SAG-AFTRA: One Union, One Industry

Executive Summary

The ANA and 4A’s Joint Policy Committee for Broadcast Talent Relations will negotiate a new collective bargaining agreement in 2013 with SAG-AFTRA, now a united union for the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television & Radio Artists (AFTRA). As the digital revolution sweeps through video production, the challenges in negotiating the $3 billion Commercials Contract, the largest collective bargaining agreement in the entertainment industry, are daunting. Doug Wood, partner at Reed Smith LLP, and Stacy Marcus, associate at Reed Smith LLP, provided updates on the SAG-AFTRA negotiations and how they may change the future of commercial production.
