Welcome to the Experiential Retail Safari! After a morning of discussions on Innovation, attendees will be split in to small groups and embark on their retail safari to visit experiential retailer locations, flagships and pop up stores. This unique experience will allow participants to see firsthand how to build a brand and create experiences at retail that will generate social buzz and sell products. At the conclusion of the Retail Safari, attendees will head back to MKTG to review their findings with the rest of the group and enjoy networking and fun with a rooftop happy hour.


I. Session 1: Creating an Experience as Innovative as the Product Itself  (10:15AM - 11:00AM) 

Hear from Beats by Dre and agency partner, MKTG, as they discuss their collaboration to launch Beats’ most technologically advanced product to date; in a scalable way – making the product education engagement the most innovative experience it could be.  In this partnership, they developed an innovative tool for product sell-in, training and consumer education that inspires personal connection and buy-in to a product. This new interactive content platform redefines the way the brand engages audiences to build deeper connections and learning experiences across all types of learners and situations.

II. Session 2: Innovation at Retail - The Experiential Retail Safari (11:00AM - 12:00PM)

This session will begin with an introductory discussion on innovation at retail, led by Michelle Greenwald, CEO of Inventours, author of “Catalyzing Innovation”, and professor at Columbia, NYU, Cornell and others.

After this introductory discussion, registrants will be placed into small groups, and will partake in an excursion to several local retail locations (list will be provided) to identify and discuss the latest, most cutting-edge retail environments, activations and technologies being deployed to maximize sales and brand building in stores across a range of sectors.  At the end of the day, we will reconvene back at MKTG to share findings and thoughts on the best activations and the its impact on the Future of Retail.

LUNCH (12:00PM - 12:30PM)

III. Retail Safari: Out in NYC (12:30PM - 4:00PM)

Armed with a map to guide your journey, small teams will head out into NYC to visit retailers, pop-up shops and other experiential retail locations.  Please be prepared to dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.

 IV. Collaboration Session (4:00PM - 5:00PM) 

Together in your group, you will prepare a quick 5 minute presentation with your key learnings, best examples and photos from your experiential retail safari. Teams will share with the group their presentation in a fun, lively conversation. 

 V. Happy Hour (5:00PM - 6:00PM) 

Please join us immediately following the presentations for a fun-filled happy hour at the MKTG bar.
