THE NEW FTC (10:10 – 11:00 AM)
The FTC has experienced total turnover at the commissioner level for the first time in recent memory.  The former head of the Bureau of Consumer Protection, Jessica Rich, will discuss what this means for the Commission and for the advertising community and how best to interact with the FTC during this period of change.

WASHINGTON UPDATE (11:00 – 11:30 AM)
ANA’s Dan Jaffe will discuss the changes that are taking place in Washington now that the Democrats have control of the House of Representatives. Will this mean more legislation and regulation that has an impact on the advertising industry, or will gridlock reign supreme? There are also a number of important cases dealing with commercial speech percolating in the courts. Dan will preview what we believe will be a very eventful 2019.

STATE PRIVACY UPDATE (11:30 AM – 12:00 PM)
ANA’s Chris Oswald will give an update on what’s occurring in the states on privacy. California’s Attorney General is holding hearings about the implementation of the California Consumer Privacy Act, and other states are considering following the Golden State’s lead and advancing privacy legislation of their own. There is privacy legislation now in Washington state, New Mexico, and Massachusetts. Chris will discuss what all this will mean for the industry.

Stacy Marcus, the Chief Negotiator for the Joint Policy Committee on Broadcast Talent Union Relations in their discussions over the Commercials Contract with SAG-AFTRA, will briefly preview the upcoming negotiations with the union.
