Crafting a Systematic Privacy Scheme When Information Gathering and Advertising are Everywhere

New technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), retail tracking, facial recognition, device agnostic communications, and next gen location-based advertising have dramatically increased the speed and ubiquitousness of advertising messages. However, without careful planning, the use of seemingly pervasive technology to augment brand-building strategies can have negative privacy and data security consequences for users. Stacey Brandenburg and Amy Mushahwar, technology and legal experts, will explain new technology use cases in advertising, the concerns of regulators, and how successful digitally converged brands can plan and create appropriate user privacy schemes (so privacy role attributes follow a user without regard to his or her device or medium).
