Protect the Tax Deductibility of DTC Ads

The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee is holding a hearing on December 12 to examine a report recently published by the National Academy of Sciences on ways to make prescription medicines more affordable. Unfortunately, one of the recommendations of the report was to disallow the tax deductibility of DTC advertising. 

ANA has filed comments with the committee describing the important role DTC advertising plays for the health of consumers. We also outline why denying the tax deduction for these ads is bad public policy that would politicize the tax code and raise very serious First Amendment concerns.
